Yorkshire’s largest natural lake an SSSI and an SPA. It has over 250 acres of navigable water and has been the home of Hornsea Sailing Club since 1946. With a maximum depth of only 2.5 metres it is an ideal lake for beginner sailors.

The club offers a variety of membership options to suit different requirements, and racing is offered to all categories of member except Associate. Please see ‘Membership’ sidebar for details and costs.
We sail several classes of boat, but most of the racing now takes place under the umbrella of the handicap Fleet.

Sailing is available seven days a week from 9am (check with HMMC) from the beginning of April to the end of October, and Wednesday evenings from early May to late August, with on-water recovery by Hornsea Mere Marine Company during those times.
