Spring End Series of 6 races, 4 to count over 2 weekends.
Jeremy Wood put in a consistent set of results to win the series with room to spare. As there are potentially two discards, though at least one pursuit must be counted, the final result cannot be too easily predicted till late in the series. Pip showed a clean pair of heels by scything through the fleet on the first pursuit, with neither the Osprey nor Albacore having a look-in. There being a reasonable breeze on the first day, and Paul being down for OD the following week, he opted out of sailing the next two races, and in stalwart fashion stood in to do OD this day too. Pip sailed well in the two handicap races, but Stuart was well on the pace.
Pip would not be able to sail the following week and midweek another Blaze joined our fleet – Ian McIntyre having collected his from Scotland. Unable to sail on the Sunday, Hannah borrowed his Blaze and enjoyed the experience! Two weeks of training for the Police have kept her off the water for a couple of weeks.
Rob Parnaby showed some impressive speed, but found it difficult to shine consistently. On the second day, Rob Froud, emboldened by his midweek solo success in Chris' Albacore, sailed well with his nephew to post a 4th and a 3rd. In the final finish, a bunch of 3 first and a second proved a comfortable win for Jeremy over second placed Rob counting a first a second and two thirds having taken delivery of his slimmed-down dagger board.
A pleasing total of 13 participants for this series.
